About Trying to get another another feel of lazy focus I shot some photos holding different translucent materials in front of the camera. here it was a piece of andhesive foil. The color of the wall, the many windows and the low light together with the soft contours have some stange kind of charm. What do you think?

Glinda, thanks a lot for the nice comment and the suggestions and ideas!

The intented look was a quite different one, namely the special atmosphere of suburban scenes under rain, and many images of this series are in a quite lazy focus that, as far as I am concerned, enhances the "fluid" look and feel of vision under falling rain.

But your idea could also be quite surprising if applied on such a photo. It might very well be that the contrast of the heavy weather to a very sharply depicted scene results in something very special.

I have to ask you however, what do you mean with "a less rectangular or less man-made image"?

Best wishes and thanks again,

Nick

Interesting idea here. I am wondering if it might not work better on a less rectangular or less man-made image. I love the windows, but with the shutters and all, a really sharp focus might not hurt - as we peek into the lives going on, we want to see every detail.

Indeed it is personal taste, but I am always glad to know about other personal tastes. I was trying to make it soft/vague in the way we remember some dreams. And I still try several differnt techniques to achieve that. Let's see what comes next.

Best wishes,

Nick

Dear Nick
I love the title that fits the motive so well.
I donīt really know about the blurry effect here. I might not use it myself, but I think itīs a matter of personal taste. It also depends on the story youīre trying to tell.
Take care,
Annemette

Nick, you may find interesting to look at this Shirley's picture: http://www.usefilm.com/image/1183914.html.
She explains how did the work.
Ciao.

Giuseppe
