What a professional job on this shot!
I love the sky, but your B&W conversion is excellent, and I like how the angle of the walkway leads in from the corner.
Interesting, that this shot feels like it was shot with a much wider lens than 18mm.

Wow . . . congrats on the award! This is by far the better of the two shots (IMO) though both are good. The range of tones here from the clean bright - but not overexposed - whites . . . to the darkest shadow seems about as good as it can get! The composition here is spot-on perfect and you have just enough going on in the sky to add interest . . . but not distraction. There is some wonderful clarity too. 7/7 my friend!

GREAT! Mostly I like the lighting conditions here, deep and at the same time with nice scales (not flat light) great sky too, the clouds looks very nice in greyscale.
