Aimee' - Thanks. Luxagraphia is a term I coined for this type of photography. Feel free to employ it for shots which use camera (or camera and subject) motion to create painted images.

Hi james!
I've searched for someone who uses the moon as their light source as I do... I'll have to look up luxagraphic tho. Good job! Check out my Painting with the moon series!

Mary - Thank you. Yes, this is nearly a black and white photograph. What color remains (from the low light level) is very subtle indeed.

Sara - Thanks. I avoid using digital zoom because I can the exact same thing with a crop later on. I have my digital zoom turned off on my sd550. Will you be posting some more moon shots? Maybe something luxagraphic?

the first time i saw it..i could tell it's a full moon...well, i guess u enjoy shooting the moon like me...u know maybe 3 days ago i went to the roof of my house to shoot the full moon...but the problem was that i have only 55-200 mm zoom lens in my pro camera....the one i took and posted it here was with my old one nikon coolpix s1...and i can see that the only reason why i could reached the moon with compac camera (coolpix s1) cuz it has a digital zoom...well, i love this one...it's like painting...all za best

Michele - Thanks. I prefer the other also. That series was more layered and complex. This one is more childlike in its simplicity.

Michele - Thank you. Yeah, this is filterless and (other than camera motion) effectless photography. The moon is in focus and this produces the clear lines with which the lunar object was drawn. You may also enjoy this one which is similar in technique:

Duncan - Thanks. If I understand your question correctly, what you are seeing are clouds in the sky around the moon.

Hi James,
Soooooo this is just looking up at the moon the other night and nothing else ? I think it is Luxagraphia like you wrote with the moon as the focus... I like it. simple, and unique !

James
Interesting use of long exposure and camera movements to created an almost tubular neon light image.
I am interested in asking, is the "smoke" or fog present just residual light from the stationary subject created by the camera movement, or was it present in the original composition?
Very creative work.
