Hi Ahmed,
You are funny man.
One of my friend- Garrett Lau told me where to find it and the next day I went to look for it.
These guys are not very common in the San francisco Bay and elusive, however, this particular Wood Duck was very cooperative.
Regards.

Yamil... I have just read your most interesting biog... and can see the love you have for those we should all be protecting... This is a great shot, legs and all... :)

This beautiful feathered friend reminds me of a lady in her best bonnet and coat heading out for the day... However, being a bird and all bright in colour, my guess is it is a male of the species... So therefore, he looks extra dapper...

Your photography is exceptional and you have a wonderful friend in Mr Armani...

Onie...

Hi Christine,
Although I recently bought a tripod from Marcus, I don’t use it on a regular bases.
However I am fully aware of the advantages of their use.
Obviously I use the image stabilization all the time.
If you want to shot birds in flight using a tripod, you can do it, but most likely you’ll get them only when they take off.

bird in flight presents one problem, and capturing them on a tripod, by far the best option for a tripod head is the Wimberley head.
I haven’t use them, but that what the experts recommend.
All my in flight images are taken hand holding my lens and that’s my best recommendation.

If you decide to go to Half Moon Bay, don’t forget to look for the Wood Duck in Venice beach which is the first beach north of Hwy 92 along Hwy 1. Heading down towards the beach, there is a pond right below to the parking lot. That’s where you may be able to find him.

Happy weekend and take care.

A superb capture, Yamil! Beautiful colour, it's almost glowing. It's unusual to see them walking around like this too, so you've got a shot that's a little more out of the ordinary. You've even got a shadow mixed in there! Great work, Yamil!
Dave.

Wow, I did not know that wood ducks have legs! Dang, I am so embarrassed. When I saw the other photo of the wood duck, I was thinking along the lines of a decoy. Okay, so I know nothing about birds. LOL.

Another awesome capture!

Best wishes,
Dave

wow! who've thought that a duck could have so many colors?? and such vibrant ones, at that! Yamil, these are all so clear-- I see you're shooting at 1/2000 second, do you use a tripod as well? I'm having such a hard time getting sharp shots with my long lens, and it's vibration reduction, too. I just bought a tripod, but it seems so cumbersome to use it for wildlife shots, especially flying birds.... I guess I might have to just shut up and learn how to use the darned thing.

I have to take my nephew to SF airport on Monday, and if the weather is ok I'm going to try to get out to the wetlands out that way to get some shots... If I can get out of doing dog adoptions on Saturday I may try Half Moon Bay. Hopefully it won't rain!

It looks like these two Wood Duck shots are just a touch sharper than the last two you had posted, especially this one. Whats nice about this shot is you get to see its feet which is really rare. The shots are really well exposed and sharp, you sure have a good copy of the 400. Great exposure. I get blown away every time I look at your portfolio, among the best I have seen anywhere. Congrats on the supberb work Yamil, truly excellent in all regards.
