Hi Nick,
Yes, this is one that I had to take in lower light conditions. So, I decided to go with much less saturation in the presentation. This gives it a completely different look to the rest of the set.

I find this not as good as the previous, Andre. The lamellae of the front mushroom are not as clearly captured, as those of the second one. From the composition's point of view, I also find the previous shots much better, due to their higher overall clarity. The question here seems to be, how to get them all uniformly sharp and at the same time enhance those shining contours of the second one?

I agree, I've taken several of this little group over the last few weeks and I personally don't get tired of this composition. I'm really leaning towards the pale desat look for this subject. I think this look has staying power when compared with a flashier version of the same image.

Well, this one gets my vote Andre. I've been flicking back and forth between the two posts, and I have to say I think this composition totally rocks. You may have more detail of the "belly" (as Ray put it) in the other one, but this has more visual appeal imo.
Most definitely an interesting study...
