About Mudstone banks on the farm Quaggaskop. The colour in the foreground is all due to "stone succulents" pushing through a uniform quartz pebble field several inches thick (like paving) after a good rainy season. They will all come into flower and shred their seeds within a period of 6 to 8 weeks and then most will retract out of sight underneath the quartz agai. A magical place.

Thanks Petal - the sky is as natural as can be although I had to desaturate it slightly since it was just too blue for my taste and in line with my memory in the original. Take care.

Hi Joggie,

The colours look as if the terrain has been bleached by the sun - pale, with only a few hints of their original colour - reading your about does scatter that thought, though.

The contrast in bright reds and faded pale whites in the background is nice - as is the dry feel of the undergrowth in the foreground.

Eventhough it gives the impression of a slightly reduced saturation, I don't think it is - the feel of desert. Very intriguing shot - fascinating as usual.

Cheers,

Hugo

Yet a wonderful and also surreal landscape, Joggie! You must be working within the South African tourism-industry and if not you deserve a good position there giving all of us such a taste for the region and a desire to go there.:-)
Best wishes,
<Annemette
