About	Aythya americana. Waterfowl #23 This is my first Redhead Duck. I have never seen them before and today I got lucky with a very "friendly one". He came from the middle of the large pond in Radio Rd, posed for me and one minute later flew away towards the Bay. This guy just save me a trip to the Central Valley, where they traditionally winter in large numbers.

Seriously though... The red head feathers look so thick and fine, almost like a plush fur... and those beads of water...

I was trying to work out why this one looked so very different... It is the eye, simular tone to the head...
