Thanks Sandip. Could not get you on what you meant by bigger frame..is it tight cropping you want to point out or the white framing of the image which you want to be wider?

Romantic .. that's the word for this pic ... you've used passion ... but i think it reflects a kind of nostalgic romance ... beautifully creared ... did you try a bigger frame for this ???

Thanks Bob. All the Mughal emperors had some level of liking for the flowers. But almost all portraits of Shahjehan and Jehangir that we have seen in our history text books in school have them holding a rose in their hand. Probably you will find some information about Shahjehan's liking about flowers here

Thanks for the informative response. It's interesting that the little research I did yielded no reference to the love of a particular variety of flower.

Thanks Bob. Shah Jehan (meaning the emperor of the world) was indeed the person who built the Taj and he was very fond of this particular variety of rose, known as the 'Basrai' rose - pink and with a nice fragrance, probably the variety was imported to India from the Arabian countries during his tenure at the Delhi Sultanate in the 16th/17th century. Thanks for your comments.

I've looked to see whom Shah Jehan might have been. I find that most say his passion was architecture having built the Taj Mahal, to commemorate his wife. I think then that this must be for the gentle side of that relationship. The flower's absent colors, remembered form, in a turning gesture, looking into time are very romantic. This is a very beautfully soft image that easily accomplishes what many others, like myself, struggle for. Very simple and beautiful with the faults being the beauty.
