Thanks Doyle. Now that you mention it the lower plant is a blurred distraction. You're right about your crop also because it chops the shadow off the main plant. You did not insult me, Thats why I asked for critique. I appreciate your comments. Have a happy new year.

I like this shot Richard . . . generally. But, since it's a CC image I need to be honest. I think the tech aspects of the shot, other than composition are perfect. Love the exposure, color . . . everything except the lower 'Plant'. I think a superior use of this would have been to have the single plant . . . and make this a more minimalist composition . . . dropping the visible plant to the lower right quadrant and making this wonderful snow capture the star and the plant would be an anchoring accent. Just a thought on my opinion on how this could be improved and I hope it's not considered insulting since I think the shot is very good anyway . . . I just feel it could potentially be better. I tried to crop to give an example but the crop fails . . . IMO . . . and a reshoot would be required to complete the shot I was picturing . . . but I attached it anyway as an example to clarify the composition I was trying to relate. Congrats on an interesting and very well exposed shot anyway.
Best Wishes for a Happy New Year!! Doyle I <~~~~~

I'd scale back to allow even MORE snow than this. :) |
