I was just reading further and I am sorry to hear that you do not have access to the negatives that were given to your brother. It is sad when their true value is not recognized.
I was also going to say that you looked a little distracted here, so it is interesting that you said you were trying to leave. Good thing you held still for "just one more".
At a certain age we had to resort to 5-dollar bills to keep our nieces and nephews interested, but they are over that now and they ask us to shoot their weddings.

So, you have the photo gene from both sides. Your mother had natural talent, does she still take photos or do you alone carry the torch.
Beautiful photo here, nessa. Soft effect and grain coexist well for a vintage BW look, but the scratches might need cloning at some point.
Do I detect some vaseline on the edges of the lens? It was a popular technique before digital came along.

14 eh? Hmmm. When I was 14 (it is all about me, now isn't it?? kekekekeke) When I was 14, it was 1972. Hippies were still active. The Beatles were gone. I was 3 years from meeting my future wife (MM [Mary Margaret]) in a driver's education class in high school. 6 years from the birth of my oldest son. 34 years before I realized my life's passion. Shoichi Yokoi (Japanese soldier from WWII) is found in Guam... still fighting the war. M*A*S*H premiers on US television. The Chicago Cubs did NOT win the world baseball championship for the 64th consecutive year. (The string is now at 98 years in a row without a world championship)
Just some stuff from 1972...
Oh... and if I did not mention already.

Excellent retro shot, I thought it was recent and heavily filtered... then I read the "about".. glad you are saving the old family photos. Was your mother into photography or just snap shots? This seems pretty good for snap shots so I assume she was a photographer.

I like this just as it is Nessa. With all its scratches and marks and motion blur at the edges it has a sad and almost dream like quality that would be lost if the imperfections were removed.
You were and are a beautiful young lady and I can see where your daughter gets the looks, be proud of the years Nessa, they’ve been kind to you. Add another six and you’ve got my age, but in my head though I’ll always be thirty five. :)

Wow. They didn't have cameras when I was 14 . . . just etched my image into a stone with a sharper rock! LoL!
I like that you can say you were like Hollie . . . tired of the 'just one more" speech! You reap what you sow . . . and my mother always told us as children one day we would have children that treated us as we treated our parents. Of course . . . as it bacame more and more true . . . I began to refer to her as my sainted mother!
A lovely image - and if anyone can make it better you can . . . but I'm certain it's hard to believe how much you've changed in the last 14 yrs (since this shot was taken)!! ;)

Impressive zoom effect roundly her! Very nice composition with the silhouette of the background dear friend....the image looks nicely old but there are some bad pixels that does not looks normal, anyway that is not bad, as I know, we do not use the sharp tool at the uploading processing!

I went looking for negatives myself and couldn't find them for our family pictures for I was going to get a better scanner at one time. Still don't know what happened to them. I do like old pictures for that is what it is all about I think for photography at least for me.

The scan is a bit noisy,I would recommend running it thru a noise remover,I uses Neat Image noise remover and I ran this thru it.No other manipulation was done just to show you that your lovely portrait can be saved.
