About I'm reminded of the skyscrapers from "Horton Hears a Who" by Dr. Seuss. Moved the focal plane deeper into the dandelion for this one!

Well Doyle, I thought I check you out and see what you've been up to lately. As usual, you're posting absolutely gorgeous stuff. This one is particularly intriguing -- and I've always been a fan of Dr. Seuss.

Regards.

That is great too, I like the focus on the senter of the plant and the way that the top blur parts looks like that, very nice.

We're practically twins Shirley . . . it WAS his best work. As a student he was told to find another job because he drawings weren't realistic and he'd make up words for his rhymes to make it fit! Old Dr. Seuss rightfully ignored that. There's a lesson in there somewhere . . . I suspect doing something you love helps to make your work shine since you aren't likely to give it up. When they made the cartoon for that story . . . they did a great job too! :) The Lorax has to be 2nd, huh?

Another great shot Doyle, love the colour and DOF of this. Never read the book sorry, to busy playing sport as a youngster to read books.

I don't like to be repitious but this is another beautiful macro ! I love the color and crop and the white part of the flower has the look of cotton ...ohhh soo soft. Your frame is very cool as well , and I like 'Chastain Photography ' written length-wise as it is for a change. 7+

Well . . . right you are Jan! I'm thinking of skyscrapers on a tiny world . . . You want to see the tiny world . . . Hehehehee . . . Mission accomplished. This was really a very difficult shot for me . . . I had to shoot THROUGH the white fibers using a narrow DOF to eliminate (using blur) those between my lens and the 'buildings' below. You can see the white spots which are all that remain . . . like little white clouds. I did look into the shot you suggest and have tried it several times. I may yet get one worthy of posting . . . but for this one, I wanted to show the depth - to the core. Oh wouldn't an industrial laser come in handy to cut this bad boy in half with . . . without destroying it in the process? Extremely delicate and somewhat difficult to move (much less to move around) . . . even here you can see a couple of the seed pods are starting to float away. :)

Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi Doyle. Fascinating work! Congratulations!!!

Jan Hoffman Jan Hoffman   {K:39467} 2/1/2007
Doyle - the detail is excellent and yet there is a nice soft feel to this that makes it very pleasing to view. Only thing I would mention was the artistic decision to include so much of the white upper portion. I am pretty sure you did that for balance and composition yet my eye wants to study and focus on the core of the dandelion. Love this macro. Almost looks like insect legs.
--Best to you, Jan

Hey Doyle,
I'm not such a "macro, flowers, etc.." lover. But I must admit that this photo is really great. The colours, focus, DOF, it's all there to even please me! So you can imagine how good it is :)
Keep it up!
7 natuurlijk.
Grtz,

Alain
