I saw this picture in the small version & clicked on the bigger version & scrolled over it really fast without looking at it too closely to be sure I was seeing it right. As a regular reader of Bizarre Magazine (from the UK) I have never seen anything like this. Disturbing yes, thought provoking even more so. It is one of those things in life that I've come across that I do appreciate your opinions on (in your comments about it) but don't think I could actually look at. I respect your reasons & ability to portray it & your stomach to not turn away. Your a stronger person than I am! I don't wear those rose colored glasses either, but wow! What an image!! Blood in any other form has never bothered me, it is in fact kind of intriguing somehow, but animals, I just can't.

i love that part of ""and there's no picture could makes everyone in the world happy"" indeed !! there is always something about this or that photo
and i do agree completely with no matter what in the picture , its always good enough unless it fakes reality ..
your comment is interesting thanks

Dear Koteiba... after spending a long reading what had been written here, from a peeved or fliers in the blue dreams or those who see the world from a pinky rosy perspective, and those sharp minds who think that..

Anyway, pictures never lie, there's no wrong in showing pix as long as it doesn't insults, but beclouding the truth by hiding it is unjustice, and there's no picture could makes everyone in the world happy, pleasure or "high" so keeeeeep it up!

Best of the best regards.

I only hope that the photos will be as nice as the morning has been up there. In some days the films will be developed and so I wait.

Thanks a lot for your tour in my gallery and your comments, Koteiba! Well, after some start difficulties I managed to get up early enough for going up the mountains and have a photo session of the rising sun. The question is, who told the mountains to look so photogenic so early in the morning? Couldn't they be as photogenic, say, at 12:00 for the sake of the sleeply photographer? ;-)

Have a nice day,

Nick

Yep! Unfortunately myths seem to still move more than reality. Humans and animals, living beings in general, are massacred by thousands (and not only in war), the planet gets as hot as hell, the industrial smog kills and ruins, but we care more if ET will find his way home. Or was it if spiderman will win against dr. octopus? I simply roll on the floor when I see that.

But hey, who knows? Perhaps the movie directors and army general will propose some general solution by exploding the earth to pieces - wow! What a movie! ;-)

Of course one doesn't have to get permanently stuck on reality but an open eye for real world is necessary more than ever.

I have to go to bed now, since tomorrow I have to get out of bed before waking up ;-) But I'll stay tuned for the further evolution of this thread. Hey, I'll dream of terminator! ;-)

Good night,

Nick

well .. there is a reason why Hollywood didn't make any movie like "blood Diamond" before ( except one actually.. beside or the US ARMY ones)
the whole world don't want to see what on Blood Diamond.. they rather have the easy version.. with fun or thrilling rather than real drama.

I think it will continue, Koteiba. It did hit the forum like a lightning. Just be prepared for the storms now ;-)

Actually I have to wonder how it can be that films like "Alien" became block busters but the simple reality is still most of the time "not good to see". Perhaps because a science fiction is only fiction? Hahaa, what a distrortion of persective...

prefers to close their eyes and live in some kind of "beautiful world", where in reality we managed to change the whole planet to hell. -->> straight to the point.

i wish this debate continue .. ... wish to see parallel photos.
this is another photo of the blood bath.

This might be because I am a hell of a guy, Koteiba! ;-)

But seriously now, as you say it is really remarkable to see that the majority of people preferes to close their eyes and live in some kind of "beautiful world", where in reality we managed to change the whole planet to hell.

Such photos remind me of the very "diplomatical" way of certain news braodcasts on TV, to show some jets as they fly soooooo nicely and play "clean war" - but of course avoiding to show what happens when their "presents" hit the earth. ;-)

I name such comments about your photo double moral! And also imaturity to simply stand and solidify the own opinion by using arguments and not such messages for taking photos out of this forum.

Anyway, I think that this debate will continue for some time. Let's see where it will take us!

Hello Nick... well , your comment is one hell of a comment to be honest !!! actually you should check out one of my photos in the second page called "bsayn" the legs with a kitten head..this photo triggered a controversy in the Egyptian photographer community and as a result some people hate me!! you are going to love the comments there !! lool .. i can understand why this photo is disturbing some people. i like your idea about the killer and the victim ..im a bit less rough about the names..( im not vegetarian :) ) but you know im just like anybody else at the end of the day .. loving to eat burger does not mean that i love meeting the cow. some people just cant admit this is how we get that burger!! its reality..and we have to stick to the profession and document humanity life! PS here is some of how they did .

Hi Koteiba!

It seems that this photo is causing a great amount of uncomfortable feelings to all those who want to limit arts to what they find "nice", so let me tell you first that I want comment it from that short-sighted point of view.

Actually, I find it great that you dare proceed to such controversial subjects, since arts do that steadily despite the calles for banning such works. But I thinbk that you missed a very special thing here. The slaughter himself! Show his face! Expose the inhuman behavior of a human being, making even clearer that even after some thousands of years of evolution human society needs further improvement. I think that the faces of the killer and the vistim at the same photo would make it even stronger. (And even more uncomfortable for those that want to bann it, since it would show them the mirror.)

As about children that may see that, well let's ban any book like "Die Blechtrommel", or "I, Robot", let's ban paintings like "The scream", let's ban anything with a deeply uncomfortable content and present our children a lie of a world in Disneyland that has never existed. Actually, banning particular kinds of books and arts in general has already been propagated by some small stupid man with a moustache. People were shouting "ban them, ban them", and burned thousands of books and paintings in that terrible "Kristallnacht" on the night from the 9th to the 10th of November 1938. The results are documented in each history book of the Europe somewhere in the 1930's 1940's. I would expect some more insight concidering such general wishes for banning photos from exposition to public.

Koteiba, keep it up, and take my comment as a comment not on the content of your photo but simply as a comment on the way that you captured it.

Best wishes,

Nick

very rational comment and wise opinion....:) .. i like you. thank you for commenting. :)

Ps: my objective is to be a conflict zone photographer... which means even more blood shed and even more painful shoots ...

I certainly did not intend to insult you personally, it is the photo content that I object to. I realise it is a fact of life, so are many other things but I will not comment on those, I do not go around wearing rose coloured glasses I know the world is full of things which will disturb me and there some things I can't change and some things I can, I am entitled to my opinion just as you are.You have had your say and I have had mine and I think we should agree to disagree on this subject

this photo is disturbing indeed and no doubt , yet it this an enough reason not to respect the fact its a photo which talk about a fact in life? when i look at your photos i understand why you got really angry with it, but remember that photographers do not only shoot beautiful things , in a nice perspective, they do report as well. thank you for your comment, even if i found "A photo like this has no place whatsoever on this site!!! " an insulting statement to me as a photographer.

I find this photo to be very disturbing and I'm sure many others do too. A photo like this has no place whatsoever on this site!!!
