About
Near the river - a sudden cold spell after a few days of warmer temperatures led to some really great fog and ice crystals. I managed to screw up the exposure - all that white totally defeated the camera's meter and everything came out quite grey. In playing with the histogram adjustment for brightness and contrasts I came up with this.
Hi Jon, Not bad considering the challenge of the white coming out like neutral grey when averaged. I try to make a habit out of taking some different exposures when shooting that much snow. I've been dissapointed so many times on film. If possible you can try and get the exposure from something different than the snow in the area. But that doesn't always work. Best to just take a few shots with different settings. Great thing about digital... it costs no more to take three shots than one. :) Andre
Thanks, Caleb - I quite like it now that I've fiddled with it, but you'd think (being that winter last 18 months of the year in these parts) that I'd remember the bit about pumping up the exposure when shooting snow, and gotten it right in the first place.
