I have posted this image on www.deviantart.com site too. Somebody comment that this is a it is a member of the order Colembola. I only see a something like a microscopic spider web, on the surface of that leaf, the rest was a deduction.

It sounds like a lens like that would be a lot of fun. Clearly you are enjoying it.
I'm not an expert on bugs at all, but I believe that arachnids have 8 legs and insects have 6 legs.

I'm not an insect expert. On this microscopic examination of the leaf, I see also parts from a micro spider web. So it may be an arachnid.
About the lens, in this case an Olympus BX40 microscope, I'm very content. But I don't have experience with a large spectrum of microscopes. I only know the BX50 from Olympus who is bigger but from photographic point of view is bigger, not better. Anyhow they are both ordinary normal light histologic microscopes, not stereomicroscopes who are more suitable for this kind of examination (wild life).

I only see six legs so maybe it's an insect. Either way this is a cool shot. How do you like that lens?
