About Sailors often refer to the ends of their ship as either the "pointy" end for the bow, or the "roundy" end for the stern. Here is the pointy end. Sorry about clipping off the ends, but my lens wasn't quite wide enough and I couldn't back up any farther.

That is certainly one of many reasons ships are referred to in the feminine gender. I'll publish the list I have gathered for some forty years in a couple of weeks.

regarding your description under the picture - that's why sailors say "she" about a ship - likewise she's pointy in the front and roundy in the aft, isn't she? ;)

Thanks for the comment Wayne. I have a mju-II, known over here as the "Stylus Epic." It is a real little sweetheart, but it is all auto. The XA allows me to adjust the aperture and I can also adjust the ISO selector to adjust the shutter speed. And best of all it has a coupled rangefinder.

Excellent work George, love that perspective. The XA is a great camera, but you should also look at the mju-II !

I used to be in the Navy. I retired after 25 years service in 1992. Now I fix their ships when they break them.

whoa, another excellent perspective. You must be in the Navy.... considering all the traveling you do.

FYI - This and the stern shot images in the drydock are the "new" USS Halsey (DDG-97)

Stunning to say the least!! Lucky you to be able to get a pic from this angle, very efective. Is a pity about the point, but still makes a fantastic image with a very powerfull impact.
Thanx for sharing
