Spot on Wayne with the information... The Mall has had many face-lifts over the years, as the dynamics of the suburb, West Heidelberg, have changed... but, the face lifts fade and age, the freshness disappears again until the next *economically charged* makeover is suggested to breathe life back into the area again... Same everywhere...
The families who lived there after the '56 Olympic Games have for the most part now gone, although still a few originals around... West Heidelberg comes in and out of fashion and, sadly, along the way, so does it's reputation... Many hard working families started from these roots, plus the sense of community post war/post games was a strong support system...
I'll stop waffling... ~~GRIN~~...
Onie...

Banyule was created when a few smaller local councils merged 10-15 years ago, it encompasses Heidelberg. This shot is of the West Heidelberg Mall which I think was built as part of the Olympic Village for the '56 Melbourne Olympics.

yeah I googled Banyule after your last batch from the mall because I thought it was seaside but I couldnt find any real placers on the sites I went to.. just another frivilious thing but have vague thoughts about retiring to the Victorian Coast somewhere.. and Patrick hits the image on the head for me.. and take it from me he knows.. hiw work is pretty damned good imo

Hmm... a work of art struggling to be seen amid the vulgar signs of consumer culture... I really like this Wayne, good stuff!
