I know, not a great photo, bad light, etc... but I love this photo. Here's my oldest dog Jake who's been with us everywhere... through our many moves, in several states and on all our many camping trips... he even once flew by himself from California to Texas. Jake was adopted from a little rescue (his owner was in jail at the time - at least he made arrangements to get Jake into a new home). Jake actually picked me... I was kneeling down looking around in the yard full of dogs and all of a sudden I feel a dog paw tap me on my head from behind. I turned around and there was big, beautiful Jake, part Shepherd/Husky and maybe a little wolf. It was love at first sight! He's such a good boy. Smart, basically independant, never causes any problems, considerate, loyal, loving and a bit of a joker...yes, he actually can play little jokes and seems to know what you're saying. What a guy.. he is 13 1/2 years old and still acts very young. Anyways, here he is about 6 years ago on one of our camping trips in the Sierra Mtns. He always gets very excited when he first sees a lake or other body of water and then runs around joyfully. Here he stopped in a playful pose for me as I snapped a photo - he was very happy at this moment. Taken at Grassy Lake near the Lakes Basin Campground. Brigitte -- thanks for sharing Jake's story and your picture of him. He has a sweet, gentle and wonderful face and I can tell he is a dog I would take to instantly.
