Thanks again! And yes... except for a very short time in the very early morning when the street cleaner comes through, this corner always looks this messy or worse. To the left of the picture is a very busy bus stop and people are always throwing trash into the street as they get off the buses. --Best to you, Jan

The scaffolding is primarily built when there is any kind of work going on above (like repair, painting etc).. so that the debris do not fall on the pedestrians below..

Thanks, Avi.. You are fortunate to have these street scenes and richly stimulating environment at your disposal all the time. Nothing like the City for subject matter. By the way, my last couple of visits have revealed so much side walk scaffolding in so many different neighborhoods in front of stores. What's the deal; is this for side walk repair or to protect pedestrians? Seems like everything from Berg-Dorf Goodman to MacDonald's is fronted by boards and webbing. --Jan

Thanks Doyle.. SF and NYC are both great opportunities but I think SF is preferable for the range of characters and the photographic possibilities. I think SF draws more from its environment and natural surroundings and NY draws more from its people and sheer size/density. From a practical perspective I find it much easier to get around, out and in to SF and that certainly offers a big advantage. I think the West Coast vibes appeal to me more. --Best to you, Jan

Ok . . . and I was once criticized on a shot for a piece of litter being in it!! Now having seen both SF and NY . . . we know both are crawling with photo opportunities! Still . . . which seems preferable to you?? :)

AJ -- Thanks and it is. In the short time I was travelling to get to meetings there were more sights and scenes than I could absorb and photograph. I wish I had more time. --Jan
