About Sunsets have an unfotunate stigma attached to them by photographers, that frankly I find both surprising and unjustified. I was busying myself with shooting the rippled texture of the sand and believed that any chance of a sunset had in fact already evaporated. By chance and for a very short duration the sun streamed through a thin sea haar (mist) so close to the horizon that its power was severely diminished thus preventing lens flare. The rippled sand was beautifully transformed to a crazed lattice of gold and amber that cupped a windblown tide pool.

NEW!! Photographic Holidays at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Wow! This is glorious. The vibrant colours are captivating. Your composition is fabulous. I particulalry love the Sun's glw on the rippling sand. I love it.
Sunsets are so beautiful, never the same, and ever changing. Photographers who dismiss them, for whatever reason, are missing out on one of Nature's spectacles.

Michael your old Bronica is a truly excellent camera very capable of giving you the results you are looking for. I know that this will sound like touting for business, but medium format photography is my thing and it would be a pleasure to offer you some assistance on one of my photo courses to help you get the very best out of it. Whatever you do enjoy your photography and you will definitely reap the benefits.

.....just superb, I like the eyebrow effect of the cloud over the illuminated pool and the low angle of light on those sand ripples. . . I aim to achieve this sort of quality [one day] and find shooting Med Format a real challenge and exposure control / exp. evaluation even more so. I am currently practicing this art with a s/h Bronica ERTS . . .I'm looking to join one of your w/shops next year . . . . till then I watch from here and continue to waste some more good film ;)

Lovely shot, beautiful colors and the composition is super. The colors reflecting off of the rippled sandy beach really add something special to the shot. Well seen - so glad you exercised a little patience - well worth the wait!

Hi Mike thanks for your comments. You are of course quite right there are quite a few crops from this full frame image that could and probably would be made by picture editors. I tend to prefer the original because of the foreground detail in the sand which in this case is unusually well illuminated.

Ian, I'm with you. I love the combinatin of the sunset with the clouds and the beach and the colours are spectacular. The low light on the sand adds something really special. Was this the full size image or did you crop it in? I think there are actually a few nice images in here with different crops - I've attached one, let me know what you think.
