About In Sintra we wittnessed a group of peigeons being given bread and this one lying down eating.
My husband is a veterinarian and told me that it probably had a certain virus that would spread to the others, but although it would be humane to end its misery, it could cause lots of trouble having a foreigner and a vet come and kill an animal like this. What a pity that human norms sometimes weigh more heavily than helping an animal.

Oh yes, that is good. Iīve done the same thing for a crow in the garden that jumped on one leg. I made sure to place the food so it could easily get to it. Some people say that itīs natureīs order, but that doesnīt mean that we shouldnīt be merciful.
Thanks dear Shirley.

Oh I canīt stand away from animals at all, dear Luis. Iīve helped many animals in my lifetime, so it was just frustrating in this case not being able to do anything.
Thanks for commenting:-)

How very sad! We used to have some crippled birds come to our ground feeder. My husband always made sure there was ground feed as well as hanging seed for all the different birds.

I understand your dilemma. Interesting shot and I'm sorry it had to happen to you. Stay away from pigeons if such thing is possible.
