About Hello all, sorry not to check in for a while but I had nothing to show so I felt bad. This little guy was sitting on a leaf outside the Selva Verde Lodge near Sarapiqui, Costa Rica.

Leora: Thank you. He was very cooperative. It's a male. I did get some lovely shots of a female two days earlier.

Yamil: They were right outside the lodge at Selva Verde, Sarapiqui. Our naturalist and I were looking for them. I got a good shot of an egg cluster too.

What an amazingly colorful and designy creature and your lighting has brought out the best in him/her.

This frog is one of my favorite animals.
You got a wonderful shot of this elusive amphibian.
They have been called the gaudiest frog in Central America.
I consider this species (Agalychnis callidryas) the most spectacular among all the Costa Rican frogs.
Their most spectacular feature is those powerful red intense eyes.
Hopefully I will find some of these guys when I go to Costa Rica in November.

Regards.
Yamil

Good one, Fred! Great DOF. The colors of this little guy really contrast nicely against the green tones all around him.

I'm sure this is only the first example of your Costa Rican trip, Fred! Very nice colours and details here, especially those eyes!

Brigette: I was at the minimum focusing distance for the lens which is just a bit less than 6-feet. I don't believe these frogs are poisonous. The much smaller Poison-Dart frogs are what you are thinking of. The poisonous frogs were in abundance at this area as well. Thank you for your kind remarks.

Absolutely stunning shot... those colors really pop! How close were you to this frog? Aren't they poisonous?
