About Returning home again in the night. I always found the space between the wagons much better after such exhausting days. The much higher level of noise there was like a sound barrier that isolates the own mind from everything else that is happening, allowing a strange kind of "peace" to support the own thoughts. Or even the absence of any thoughts. A small taste of the wished isolation later at home, when somebody only wants to be left in peace.

I'd be very glad to read any comments.

And I didn't even perceive that person until you said that, Doyle! It was in my mind but in an unconscious way that turns conscious and thus also reveals some things more now! Thank you very much for the sharp observation and the nice, detailed comment!

I think I'll do place the image into the project "Solitude", though I am a bit ambivalent now, since I read on the description of the new project (Totally cool) that it should be new images that are put in projects, and I in general don't post images before some long time has passed for allowing me to detach from them and get a bit less enthusiastic abou the own work.

On another subject now, which really bothers in the last days, did you or anybody else at UF notice the problems that Andre Denis has with his donation? He tries to contact somebody at UF since weeks, wrote already so many emails, and there is not a single reaction from the side of UF that could be named an answer. As you can imagine this is neither what the propagated "familiar atmosphere" here implies, nor it is serius quality of service, so perhaps somebody could find out what has happened to his donation, or at least say to him that the problem is being investigated.

Best wishes,

Nick

This conveys mood to me very much Nick. Having worked hours where the world seems to be at home in bed when I leave . . . i can sense an agreeable solitude very much here. Perfectly composed . . . the blurry lone person outside the train seems to enhance the mood . . . I think this one is VERY well done and would have made a great entry into the solitude project.

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi Andre and thanks a lot again for the nice comment! It is my very intention to make that tale more tangible, and so I can only be glad if I succeeded a bit.

I didn't really have any special plans to mix up certain kinds of images. I rather considered it good to have a more or less thorough study of all the views that a commuter might have, be them in the train or outside or in motion - just pretty much of anything such a commuting person might face. This is perhaps why the images, taken all together, give the impression of a consecutive series of moments of real running time?

Cheers,

Nick

Nick,
I think you have done a good job of telling the commuter's tale with this series. One thing that I noticed you have done (Planned? I don't know) you mixed up some motion blur images with a couple of images that show the inside of the train (this one and the window image) When viewing the series, it gives the impression of the stop and go of the train at different stations.

Many many thanks for the nice and detailed comment, and for the generous rating, Andras! And especially for the comparison to film noir! I am very glad to hear that!

Cheers noir,

Thanks a lot for the nice and so detailed comment, Jimmy!

I didn't think about any cubistic appearance here, but now that you say.. well, some little resemblance I can see.

About the mood, very interesting to me, to see that the image fails to convey what I wanted it to convey, but that at the same it generates an impresion that I didn't even think of.

Thanks a lot for the comment again, that gives me a new view about this image!

Oh I love the play of the contrasts...
The shiny part in the upper right corner, and the blurry background beneath the glass makes it eyecathing, like a scene from a film noire. 7+
All the best
