Yes. YESSS.. THAT is exactly my way of thinking. If I THINK in B&W, I will SHOOT in B&W.

About the image, yeah, you are right.. I wanted to keep the fountain too.. :)

Cheers, Gary !!

I think it's better to shoot in B&W, it makes you think in B&W and many great street images wewre shot in B&W. This is madly spontaneous. I think this image works just as well if the top half of the frame is cropped.
Regards, Gary

what a great candid capture, Avi. Lots of variety in action and it is just a photograph that makes you smile. not to mention the two babes in the photograph.

Your clarity and light is commendable, too.

Best,
Dave

sure Ron. I was just amused at the way you were interpreting. Actually what was happening was the two girls were tourists, and the guy was their rickshaw driver. They asked him to take a snap of theirs, and he was showing them how they should pose for the shot. :)

To me, it seemed to be a perfect HCB moment !

no matter what is happening here the result (your pic)is very amusing,a great capture of a human behavior.
i always never take pics of people but for me there is no doubt that this kind of shots are the most interesting.
well done

A really good Henry tribute!!! You captured a fleeting moment with great skills and sensibility.

Very interesting play of lines and excellent B&W presentation.

Congrats my friend!

Very nice details and strong contrasts on this one, which again allows me to see so many different things and stories going on. But the common thing they all have is that it is all about human life. Name it crazy or reasonable, unusual or usual.. it remains life.

There is also some element of surrealism, or even absurd look and feel in such captures as they seem to rip a single moment out of the continuum. I think that this might be one main difference between movie and photography. The photography allows studying a single moment for (if you wish) infinite time - it manages to "stretch" infinitesimal duration to arbitrary long duration, and so perhaps it is able to make any real scene surreal, by stopping the flow of natural time and replacing it with the flow of observation time.

Cheers,

Nick

I know Paul. In fact several of my friends have been telling me the same. I just haven't found out a good algo for B&W conversion. Somehow, whenever I convert my color images, they go wrong. Hence I prefer shooting in the monochrome mode (with an orange filter).

best,
Avi

Paul Schofield   {K:5970} 1/13/2008
Strange that you used a digi and caught it in B&W rather than carrying out your own conversion and having the option of keeping the colour version.

It makes no difference as this is a stunner of an image in B&W.

well that is a very nice scene Avi, nice poses, a woman that dancing, a man that looks like ready to fall down and a woman that think she is a bodybuilder... three so different poses and a very good sharp freeze motion but still a shot with great power of motion - action, excellent!
