About Children are also an integral part of the process of making idols in Kolkata. While the seniors are busy with the God's and Godesses, children are generally assigned the easier job of making the demons, so that incorrect proportions add up to the 'demon' factor. This child was, however, not so happy with his assignment, so has taken up his father's work while he was out for lunch. 'I have made the face of Laxmi' - he said very proudly of his achievements during the day. What was so great about it, I asked. Ask my friends, he said, I am an artiste! I asked him his name. He smiled, but never answered. His busy hands kept on moving, while he posed for the photo...

Thanks Debjit. yes, the blue was what I wanted to capture. In the kumartuli and potopara areas, everything is in the drab colors of silt, so it is very tempting to switch over to BW immediately and capture the wonderful forms. However, my idea was to break the convention and capture the colors, and, more importantly, the freshness a color can bring to the scene. The life within can be depicted using these colors, I believed and this photo is a try towards that. My earlier series on Kumartuli was also in the same spirit.

Thanks Avi. Ami jeta bolechilam, seta try koro - switch over to 'faithful' mode and when you adjust the curves in PS, colors will be rendered automatically in a more natural way.
