LOL funny you should say celebrity as we named him Diva (before we discovered he was a he) for his wonderful singing ability. But thank you, I will keep shooting him even though it has become increasingly difficult since the sepia picture was taken (he's no longer content to play with his toys, he now wants to play with you and the camera).
Now that's better,, the entire photo,, as I haven't seen him in colour I agree that sepia here suits. In the attached one I see a mischievous bird,, playing with his toys, just a natural pose for these type of birds. Just keep taking his photo, turn him into a celebrity,, :-) Colin F,,,
Colin, this doesn't seem harsh in the least bit, in fact it's exactly what I have been looking for in a critique, thank you! I can definitely see all your points. However, I have shot this particular bird in color before, and for some reason I haven't liked any of them. IMO he doesn't do well in color. However, IMO he does excellent in sepia and I will attach a picture I took a few months ago. The B&W was sort of a test with him, and I guess he doesn't do that well in it either. Later on I will get one of him in color, maybe it's just me that doesn't like him that way.
This image confuses me,, Maybe it's the B&W,, seeing the one eye only and without studying the image closely, the nose above the beak looks like the second eye, only it's way too small. The very bright background on the left is very distracting especially with that dark piece protruding into it. I would like to see this in colour, I feel you are doing yourself a dis-service with it in B&W.
Sorry if all this seems harsh but that is only my humble opinion.
