Although I was only privileged to stay in Kashmir for a few weeks, memories have lasted decades. This is the disputed territory between Pakistan and India. I stayed in the middle houseboat, with a family of nine. Happiness transcends (what we perceive as) poverty.
Thankyou, Diana. I have been a little disappointed at the huge number of 'great shot' comments seen on this site. It is refreshing to see that the reviewer has actually looked at the photo before commenting. I completely agree that there is a problem with blown-out sky and contrast here. Some of that is the scan, some is the point and shoot device used, and some is the dramatic mid-day contrast with no available fill flash. I fiddled with it in photoshop, but my limited skill at that has yielded nothing more that experience. This pic had potential, and I see it mostly in my memory now. It unfortunately doesn't come out so well to others. Last month my daughter and I went to Nepal, and I will post a few images from there next week. Regards.
Great composition! I love it. It is a bit pitty the photo is much too light. It is difficult to make pictures in the full sunlight, maybe you could do something with the "exposure" and lower this on your camera. Diana.
