Well, Dave, I would rather say "love, international style", and I have to wonder now also about how similar these things of life are everywhere. I guess there has been much globalisation already before the economy came to it! ;-)
But the image is not only a good snapshot. It wouldn't do justice to consider it only this way. Your DoF is very nice here, as sharpness gets less and less toward the background but without eliminating the view of what is going on in the rest of the street. I find it very well done, as you enhanced the main subject but didin't completely forgot about the rest, and so those two are still in this world of ours. Perhaps it is this why there is a very touchable look and feel of the scene without turning to that kind of soap opera thing. Very very real, I must say.
I think also that it was good to have it in B&W for concentating on the important things that I think will never change. So it has a kind of documentary character too. And the tonal range is very well balanced as is the composition too.
I wish I could have such street images too.
