Thanks Peter. I was using 200 iso for this one with centre exposure and spot focus. Av mode at F8 with fill flash. Its been cropped a fair bit as well. The reason for the 70-300 zoom was to stay out of the way of the photographer which i managed to do. But i got into trouble for not being up the front with my wife where i could have got some great shots with my 18-50. I do use my old Pentax manual lens's and they are great. I think they are better than the new ones. But on this day, even the 50mm 1.7 would have been to close. This shot here was from a fair way away and i got lucky with no one in the way. hi
very nice side lighting, what was your iso rating
it looks very dark in the backround and you using a long slowish zoom
exposure is spot on as neither highlight is blown out
you can put a cheap 50mm on that camera turning it in to a fast 75mm, wide open would get rid of that guests head
go to the custom functions and turn on the allow aperture control

Thankyou Riny. Im sure you will but dont do what i did. I had big lens on so i wouldnt get in official photographers way. If i had a small one on i would have got some great ones from my seat in the front row where i should have been sitting. There was empty seat and angry wife. :( Cheers Keith
