Volumes against a black background suggested by the faintest fall of a single light, as in certain works by Caravaggio (example: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/caravaggio/david-goliath.jpg). The mind makes puns both verbal and visual, so one fancies that this blue-washed model is singing the "blues." But the picture also resonates with implications of oppression and eroticism.
