About I think the mistake was again to not take more of the pavement in the frame. Any comments would be very welcome.

Hi Andre!

And many many thanks for the nice detailed comment. What I understand under Ian's suggestion was some composition like the attached sketch. I can imagine that much more powerful than mine, and still keeping the charm of the old city streets.

I must try something similar in some narrow street here in Lucerne, and see what it brings.

All the best,

Nick

Hi Nick,
I'm not so sure that you really need more pavement in this case. I suppose that we would have to see two versions to compare. This seems to work for me anyway. I think it does a good job of showing the narrow confined streets of an old city. I'm pretty sure that's what Ian was getting at when he said he liked the "romance" of the image. It shows the charm and old worldness of the city well.

"Dig the romance to this"? Didn't get that, Ian. You mean a romantic place?

Cheers,

Nick

Partially the way I think about it, Ian. I was thinking rather of a wider angle instead of walking backwards, but in any case too much was left out. As about stilts... I would never think of that, but I see what you mean! Well, I'd prefer some ladder for getting that from a higher point of view, because I don't think that I would be able to balance on stilts. (And the camera was expensive! ;-))

But thanks a lot for the suggestion, which I really must try in some narrow road around! I can imagine what it would look like!

Cheers!

Oh well, Dave, I cut the street too merciless, I guess.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment!

But some more of the pavement would do good here, I guess.

Cheers and thanks a lot, Ilir!

It's a snap, but I suspect there's some classsical construction beneath it all with the dark botom left and you were impressed by the balconies surely, suggest stilts and walking backwards next time?
