I like this photo a lot. Looks like it would be quite striking with a wide double white mat set in a satin black frame to set it all off. If it were possible financially, I think a workshop at Yellowstone would be a lot of fun and educational too. I don't shoot digital, but I love the advantage you have of having a true record of the camera settings. Older I get, the more I forget. ;)

And it was ansolutely not necessary to convert this to B&W, Jim! It is as B&W as it takes right "out of the box"! And all the sharp details and good contrasts of contours of the main subject against the bacjground do define the tree in a vast, infinite white space. The additional background greys on the right contradict somewhat the generally strong idea and capture of the solitary view. Perhaps a capture from a differnt point couls eliminate them? (Which I also know is not always possible.)
A very good approach for a pure view of the subject and only the subject.
