Thank you dear Ania, I was sort of lucky here, I had the camera on continuous shutter here, so had a sort of movie going on. Had lots of pictures to choose from. I hould have been watch the camera not the tiger, then I might have got him all in the frames though

Yes focusing it out as much as I could, you still get some bluriness as you would with your finger prints on a filter type of effect. Thank you so much for your comments they are greatly appreciated

And you got rid of all those "finger prints and scratches" simply by putting them completely out of focus, may I assume Dan? Because the image brings me an impression of the tiger as it would appear when focusing through "free" air rather than behind thick glass. Much like observing the tiger from some safe distance but without anything translucent between you and the king.
Cheers!

Hi Nick, thank you so much for all your comments. They are always welcome my friend, I hope you are having a great weekend. Adn yes it was taken through thick glass with finger prints and scratches all over it ;-)

Oops, and BTW, if this was taken behind glass then it is an even greater achievement! Hat off for that!

I only meant the somewhat less strong focus on the body, Dan, which comes from the (wisely chosen) wide aperture. But it is a nice to have since it enhances his face! As about the legs, well, that cool guy didn't care about the photographer! ;-)
Cheers!

Thanks Nick, yes got lucky here but not really as well, opened up the fast shutter, so have all this in frame by frame movie style, so has plently to pick from :-).
Yes I know what you mean by the look they give when they are alerted or interested in something.
That focus softness you are seeing is actually glass reflections, lot going on there, almost got it all removed with camera angle and polariser but not all of it.
I agree about the legs, too bad about that now ;-). I should have been looking where I was going not tracking the animal without checking framing.
He had just been fed, and was now quite playful
Thank you so much yet again Nick for your great commments

The light background is such a good centrast for the vivid strong colors of the tiger, Dan! I think also that it did you a favor with that pose ;-) Seriously now, the timing was perfect for capturing a very interesting moment, when something seems to attract the sharp attention of it.
The details on the front part and face are also superb. The focus gets a tiny bit softer as it follows its body backward but this makes its face and attention even more important.
Perhaps (only perhaps) including the legs could make it even better, though from the composition's view it is already more than good enough for a picture book about the king of all felines.
BTW, the sharp teeth of that fast killer really tell me to keep away, but on this one it looks not really angry - only interested. Of course, it matters very much what kind of interest this is. In case of "oh! yummy!" it is not as important whether it is angry or not! ;-)
Cheers!
Nick

Lots of zoom going on there dear Jen, would love to come over and take some shots there, and have my own personal guide ;-). Maybe you could shout me that beer. Had a great weekend, took loads of photo's, but two days worth are only average after not trusting my camera's auto focus, that's what you get when you modify things ;-)

I think this one is my favorite Dan. Despite the glass in between the two of you (Thank God for that) you were able to keep it very sharp with great details my friend. Take a look at Keith's page ;) xoxo, Julie.
