Photo looking across the main part of Kenecott Mine, the largest open pit excavation on the planet. The vehicles barely visible in the distance are giant Caterpillar mining trucks, with tires that stand around 12' high, to give you an idea of the scale.
thank you for replying,as far as I remember the main diamonds mine in South Africa is more than 2 km deep and it extends horizontally more than 5km. but that one does not have an open pit, they use elevators to go down.regards.
Hello Saad, this is primarily a copper mine, though other metals are extracted as well. It has been in operation since the 1920's and has grown to more than 3/4 mile deep.
the very same man will protect the nature and at the same time lead to its destruction, each with certain conditions.I hope the mind and reason will overcome the grade.best regards. just asking mining what?
I think this is a great image! The scale/size of it is immense and well indicated by the toy looking caterpillar mining equipment. The only thing that bugs me a little is the top of the capture seems a tad bit over exposed. Otherwise, great work!
