Even Adams editted his shots while developing in the darkroom. He would have burned in a little bit during exposure to remove the contrast. It's not a sin; it's part of the process.
I do understand that it is better to get the shot correct in the first place. Perhaps a flash diffusor on the onboard flash would have minimized the shine on Dad's skin, but if there wasn't time/occasion for that, post-processing is the best solution. Moving a foot to your left might have minimized the idea of antenna sprouting from Dad's head.
As I say, it's a delightful portrait, but having a great subject is only part of photography.

This is a very nice portrait, Saad. You're right that he is a lovely little boy, but the portrait is absolutely made by the delightful skintones of your capture, the pose of the father as he delights in his son (instead of gleaming at the camera himself), and the wonderful catchlight in the boy's eyes - not too much, not too little.
If I had my druthers, I would have liked the background to be a little less obvious and distracting (particularly the satellite dishes sprouting above Dad's head) and I would photoshop some of the shine off of Dad's scalp.
All in all, however, this is a heart-warming capture. Really, really like it.

Good balance of exposure, Saad, especially for getting the necessary details on the face of the father and the child against the very strong light outside. The range of colors remained also very good over the whole image, despite the great light difference between inside and outside.
A less centerd image would be even better. Watch your composition.

Nice shot and a perfect use of the flash... I could not imagine how that photo could be without it... best focus and quality bothly to your main subject (dad - baby) AND to the very interesting background, something really good here.
