I wrote it when I first got into HDR. Some of the Photomatix info is outdated since they came out with a new version but the basics on HDR photography technique is there.

Thank you, Jim, such nice compliments! I almost hate going to the Grand Canyon for that same reason, every shot seems banal. This particular one, I walked through the woods to where no one else was, not at a regular viewing point. Probably the only way to do the GC!

Not sure what you mean by how did I do my HDR... it was 6 shots, probably 1 f stop apart, tone mapped with Photomatix. If you are just starting out in HDR and want to read my tutorial, let me know, I'll give you the URL.

This is really nice. It's notoriously hard to get Grand Canyon pictures that are not hackneyed but you sure got a good one here. I like your strong foreground - the diagonal log. Also, you have some really nice light there. The storm clouds add so much too. What a satisfying picture. Most excellent work.
