Are Cell Phones the Next Cigarettes?
Mobile phones have been around for more than 20 years and are now used by more than 3 billion people. Yet questions linger over whether mobile phones can contribute to health problems, including cancer. Cell phones have only been mainstream products for 10 years or so, and it may take much longer than that for adverse effects to show up.
New studies on health and cell phones are tough to get going. In the United States, most research on the topic was discontinued at the beginning of the decade, largely because industry groups and government considered the questions resolved and haven't been willing to finance new studies.
But scientists are concerned that cutting off studies could be a mistake.
"It was 15, 20 years after people began smoking that we saw concerns associated with it," says Michael Kelsh, principle scientist and epidemiologist for Exponent, a scientific consulting firm. "Down the road, the same could happen with phones."
The latency period for brain tumors can be 10 to 15 years.

Hi Stan. Thanks a lot for your wonderful comments and kind words. I really appreciate it.
Interesting that you've touched this ecological problem. I've just finished a book by Michael Chrichton titled "State of Fear". He's got quite a controversial point of view (to say the least) on ecological movement in the world. You'll like the book.
The bumble bees, they are my favorite models when I go macro. Not too shy, proud of themselves, eagerly pose. And in abundance... still.

I like the picture, great texture , great color and shades, excellent job. Well I have hear all my life that know one would have to hurt us that Man would kill there own selfs. People know this about the cell phones and yet go ahead and use them, I guess it means more for them to talk than to live. I don't use one and don't want one. I don't understand why the groverment doesn't make them quite makeing the cell phone, the goverment sticks there nose into everything other thing. We need to do away with the cell phones and start raiseing bees. If they don't care about there selfs, what about there children and grandchildern. 7
