Hi B I always shoot RAW (DNG), at the largest size available, and then if I need to crop, which I often do, I don't lose quality and still have a large image. I'm not familiar with Elements or ACDSee, but with Photoshop CS2 it's best to resize upward by ticking the bicubic sample box. Might be the same with the software you use. But you will lose quality. I've heard some people say that to maintain quality it's better to upsize in small increments than all in one go. There's also specialist software available to resize upward, but I can't remember the name offhand. Regards, Gary
Excellent idea Gary! I like that thought, and mad I didn't think of it first ha ha. If I crop so much, can you give me suggestions on how to enlarge it without losing the image too much? I use PS Elements 6, and ACDSee, as well as an HDR imaging program. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate your advice!
The baby makes this image for me, so cute. Sorry to say, I'd crop the mother out and leave just the caring, supporting arm. Like so. The tonal range is marvellous. Regards, Gary
