Morning Harry, I still have flashbacks to the scene of those poor people jumping when something triggers it. The ability for man to be so cruel to one another has always been a hard one for me. The total disregard for the sanctity of life has always been hard for me to fathom. Life could be so good if we could use our abilities and technology to truely change the world. Unfortunately the greed and total disregard for mankind by the corporations and evil politicians only compounds the misery we seem to be born into. I live in Montana because I can be removed from so much of the constant bombardment from the media and the sociopaths such a Bush and the rest of them. Wish my service would have been an end to the suffering that our country constantly inflicts on others. Just my ramblings from deep rooted disappointment in the systems that control our worlds. I will make a difference my way and so be it. You know I will always send my best to you. Be well, Stan

They still show it nowadays. Horryfying images. I had the same, I saw it all for many days in my memory. In another report of a guy travelling with the NYFD in tower one you could hear the impact so I hear that sound over and over again. I can somehow imagine what Nam was like ... :-(
Be well, Harry

He lost two of them in the first tower. I will never forget the people jumping either. I felt that it was so ghoulish of the news to cover the people leaping to their deaths. The media has become all about sensational and sensitivity is no longer to be found. I was disturbed for many days after seeing those images. Like Nam all over again. I only hope that we can tame the hatred to a more manageable level in the world. Be well, Stan

Did his friends survive ?
I had returned that day from a holiday and got home around 9 am. So yes, I saw also the first hit, the confusion, the second hit, terror was evident and with the other targets , pentagon and white house we understood the major impact of it on US but also the world. It felt like WW-3 I will never forget that image of people jumping from the tower ........

Thanks John, this was a spontaneous moment with guitar and camera. Light was tough and the background was very busy. The expression was the shot and the guitar was the reason for the expression. Kerry loves to play and feel the strings. I appreciate your kind thoughts! Be well, Stan

I can tell you like my friend,he is a gracious man and a hell of a picker as well. He is not bad when it comes to that Martin in his hands. He has seven guitars and he calls them his harem! He has them sitting in a semicircle and he ask them permission when he picks them up. He has fun!! Be well my friend, you are the best!! Stan

Marty, I am honored by your words. I am so glad you liked this one.. I liked it and thought as long as I liked it the rest was a bonus. Kerry is a wonderful friend and the absence in our time together was if if I had just seen him the day before. It was so good to reconnect and I could see that in this image. Converted to B/W for the contrast and to bring him to the foreground of the picture. The full file is in color but I am sure that you will do it justice with your abilities. I would take the visit as a pleasure not a threat. Thanks again for your unselfish help to an old man!! Be well, Stan

Stan,
This is my very most favorite capture you have ever posted my friend...
All Photographers dream of getting a capture such as this. It's very street and candid driven, in which I love!
Very nice post work, as well...
If you don't send me the full file for my private collection, I will come and visit you for a week again... ;)

Hello Brigitte, good to hear from you! Thanks for your comment and encouragement. This is a picture of a friend I have not seen for ten years. He called me yesterday AM to let me know where he was staying so that we could get together yesterday. My subjects have been close to me and feel that the camera is incidental when I get a capture of them..Kerry was playing some recent songs that he has written to catch up on the years we have been apart. He has recently survived cancer and has a new love and intensity for his music. Was really good to catch up with him. He obliged my desire to catch some quick shots while he played some of his music for me. This was closer to a street shot than actual portrait, but I wanted some recent picture of him for my photo journal that I have started. I am writing and including captures with my friends and relatives in a narrative of my life and people around me. It helps keep me grounded to my life and people I care for. Be well, Stan

Thanks Harry, he was playing a song he wrote about 9/11. He was working on a high rise doing construction about 10 miles from ground zero that day. They saw the first tower starting to burn and it was a clear beautiful morning. As they were watching the smoke rise from the first tower they saw the explosion of the plane hitting the second building. They had friends on their crew that were doing maintenance on the towers that day. He said he left early and drove to Pennsylvania that day to be with his sons knowing that it was going to be chaos in the big apple. He said you could smell the fear of the people that day as this was unfolding. The song is called Your God's Wrath. It is a very poignant song!! Glad you liked it. Be well my friend, Stan

I agree with Wolf, this is a very nice natural portrait and technically it appears perfect to me. I've also noticed that you have a way with your subjects... in that you always bring out the best in the people you photograph... it clearly shows in their very warm expressions. Well done, Stan! 7/7
