The red marble basin of about 1834 is supported by four lions from the tomb of Ricalt V of Merode in the portal. The baptismal font is lower than the church floor, as the descent of Jesus for his baptism in the Jordan symbolizes. Through the sacrament of baptism is one member of the church community. This chapel was built in 1946-1953. ================= To my information the brass/copper top is the old churchbell from the old church that went up in flames.

[edit] Building
The St. Cathedral is one of the largest remaining Gothic village churches in North Brabant. She was built in brick with tufstenen bacon that layers the church a striking appearance. This tufstenen during the restoration of 1887 partly replaced by stone carved with ground adding the size of the original stones. The church is an example of Gothic Kempense. It is a driebeukige Crucifixion with ambulatory and chapels radius. The latter are in a different way affiliated with the church, namely the gallery, similar to the situation in Geel, that if Mr Van Merodes had. Despite the size and wealth of detail missing exuberant decorations such as air arms, which, when larger Gothic city churches usually be found. There is a star vault over the crossing, and there are cross vaults on the other parts.
By restoring the tower are the tufstenen bacon layers preserved. The third exhibit articulation agreements with those of Hilvarenbeek.
