About
While residing in East Glen Park (a sud-division of Gary proper) we lived on Connecticut St. When I was not playing ball on the official diamond, I was playing stick ball with some friends in this alley behind my house. In my later years of men's softball, I was known as a straight up the middle hitter-----geez, I wonder why?
a very useful, detailed, and very understandable notes, for the present time,if you could tell me the title of a movie or two, that talks about stories of the Cubs, though it is useless to take history from Hollywood, but that is OK for me ,to take a preliminary idea,I hope there is movies about them, and I am sure there is, thank you very much for the offer of hats, but that will comes second for the time being,my best wishes, and regards, Saad.
Baseball defines the American character. It is a little boy’s game played by grown men. The hope of eternal youth. If the baseball game is well played, it is a thing of beauty. Baseball is a thinking man’s game. Baseball is the team version of chess. There is cleverness, strategy, luck, talent… and emotional ruin all wound up in baseball. I will never try to convert you to become a baseball fan. Every man has their own interest. But I will say this to you: Baseball is history and future combined. My favorite baseball team is the Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Cubs have been a member of the professional baseball world since 1876. That is not very long in your world, but it is ages and ages in the timeline of America. The Chicago Cubs also have another thing that is a record in the entire world. They have gone 101 years without winning a championship in their sport. The last time the Cubs won a championship was 1908. The Cubs are known as The Lovable Losers” in the baseball world. I am a Cub fan because I was born in Gary, Indiana and the Cubs were the closest team on television when I was a boy. There is something about baseball and the Cubs that wraps itself around your heart. Roger in Australia does not know baseball, but he has a Cub hat I sent him. I also sent his wife a Cub hat. Hiro in Japan has a Cub hat… My wife has a pink Cub hat. Early in my Gary, Indiana posts I said: “Baseball figured prominently in my early years.” I do not care who the players are. I do not care if my favorite team wins or loses. I love the ballet of baseball. It has been 101 years since the Cubs won a championship. In Cub legend and lore there is this phrase: “Wait till Next Year!” That is what we yell when the season is over. Wait till next year!!! No one alive in the world remembers when the Cubs last won a championship. I know you love history (many of your photos mention the years and centuries of things) and the Chicago Cubs ooze baseball history. It would be my pleasure to send you and your family Cub hats. Just drop me a mailing address at my personal email. I do not cry when my beloved Cubs lose a game. I do not shout and laugh when they win… I do not live my life by baseball…I love the game. Baseball is… the heart of America. Every person knows the rules… every person at one time in their life played the game. Baseball is a constant in a changing world. Baseball is beautiful. Once you learn and understand the rules… it will creep slowly into your life like a lover.
it is some kind of strange thing to me who the American are fond of baseball,I do not know the reason for that, from what you have said in this series,I could say 80% is about baseball, Saad.
