Artist's Comments OK Step back in time 1984 to be exact.. I have just finished reorganising the storeroom I have gone through my early paintings collages etc thrown stuff out and photographed and catalogued the stuff.. I intend to whack em up here. This is a straight gelatin silver print collage. Prints are of figures in a diaorama in the War Memorial in Canberra. This collage was to illustrate a song from the Your Brother Jack album 1984 Privacy (Get Close)
Marching To War
Marching to war to the beat of of muffled thoughts shouldered privacy eyes trained right no way out
All sorts of things like blurred spinning objects brown whirl twisting just above your eyes who knows the evocation of such things?
Stripped bare and pale whitened to pain held by fingers and lips that couldn't say no that, the killer instinct and still wont let 'em march
policy decisions about night bombing you can convince the workers of almost anything in the national effort
It seems so far away distance in a bell jar on a highway south of Hobart your were killing me your were killing me killing me killing me

you know I can honestly say that you are the ONLY person who picked the stations reference.. the horse however was the perfect way to register the horror
so love diaramas and it's produced a great narrow dof image. fabulous stations of the cross progressionb and leaving it to the horse to register the horror works on me.
