history should not be left to the likes of this commentator because what you get, for those who care about trivia, is people running around with ideas that are based on erroneous information, and so these shears, are not shearing shears, they are dagging shears used for removing soiled wool from the back end of sheep and stuff like that, sort of takes the shine off it a bit, eh! anyway, we'll go with it for a bit.
