I'm constantly experimenting with my light setups, Nick. I have three strobes and a reflector, along with two more strobes from a friend if Phil's shooting with me, but there's something to be said for just turning many of them off and using only 1 or two lights.

I was impressed by the light before I read what you used Paul.... I guess simplicity shouldn't be overlooked

There is a saying in Holland that I would translate as: do not throw away your old wooden shoes until is proven the new wooden shoes fit well and are not leaking.
So stay doing what you are very good !! at, being the caveman ;-)

And surely you can try new shoes ...... ;-)

Well, the one thing I like about shooting in studio is that there is nothing to distract from the model or the fashion. Also, all lighting is under my control, where outdoors I can only creatively augment (or fight against) the ambient light.

Photographic wise you are at your best being a caveman.
So caveman, do what you are best at and take a walk outside for a break ;-)

I can see individual eylashes, so I'm not sure where you're seeing the softness, Jim.

Seems a bit "soft"... maybe just my monitor setting.
