OK, then I can be sure that you really meant an abstraction-like image, Saad.

Cheers!

Really such a strong punch, Paul? I had the impression that overexposure "compressed" it to highlights in such a way that the structure vanished a bit.

Glad if you like it, anyway.

Cheers!

Cropped (hopefully) as Saad meant

Nick Karagiaouroglou Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:127263} 2/1/2009
Thanks a bunch for the idea, Saad! So let's crop again! (Attachment.) What do you say? Crop more, or less, or differently? :-/

Indeed cropping the trees, and even at the level if uncertainty about how much to crop, enhances the abstract attitude in the sense of an "abstraction from an object" - a *solitary object*, if we perceive the sequence of similar constructions as a single object, along with the background wall. It also tightens up the color palette, at least for the most part of it, and this seems to fit this abstraction. I am very greatful to you, Saad, for revealing to me this possibility.

The other way around is the abstract, not the abstraction. (Two different things.) One of the many ways of an abstract is to try avoid any kind of "self-evidence", in the sense of avoidance of anything "understandable" that could be cinnected with the image. Notice the difference here: While the abstraction still describes something out of no reason, the abtstact describes nothing at all out of a very definite reason, namely to not map comprehension ontio the world, but rather to reproduce what *is*, just what *is*, and nothing more. Not a single trace of comprehension - *this* is what an abstract is made of. And this was also my perception of the scene and intention for an image, not being aware about its possibilities for an abstraction. So, this is also why I thank you very much because now I have an additional direction in my mind.

Still, an abstract of the street doen't need to explicitely make an abstraction of something special like a single object. This would be a very naive idea, which actually seems to be very firmly planted in the minds of many people. You don't necessarily need singular objects and possibly close-ups for an abstract. Actually most of the streets are also abstracts for they are depictions with no "explicit" meaning. They just *are*. Their "meaning" is up to the the perception of the spectator.

Thanks again, Saad!

Nick

I like it, Nick! This is really punchy and in my face, with a lot of repetitive structure.

it is very good for a street shot, and it needs cropping of the trees if you want it to fit the abstraction ,at least this my personal idea,a well done shot,
Saad.
