Oh StingRay! Thank you SO much for the welcome. This wee lad is not my grandson, merely a guest. He was pensive...and I thought a perfect choice for the innocence project.

I know what you're saying and you and I agree. Photography is a personal vision. A shot MAY be able to be improved...while the shooter remains steadfast not doing so. Only twice...this time with Avi and once with Rina have I opted to consider and revise. I always listen and think about the advice for future shots...but usually spend a lot of time deciding what I want for the current shot before I post...and I'm reticent to make changes.

It's been a while...and though my photog skills haven't atrophied...I can see my lack of the critiques from the skilled people here have made me a tad lazy. HERE...here, I can hone my skills yet again.

Dude...I hope all is well with you and yours...seriously. I've always considered us to be mates on two sides of one pond...well...and a few thousand miles of land! LoL!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

PS: My Sainted Mother is doing very well without Dad. She has many friends and has decided not to sell her winter home. )

Strange. There used to be another guy on UF with the same name as you...

Good to see you here, my friend!

You certainly captured a look of innocence here. How about a tighter crop?

WELCOME back my dear friend and I see you have brought a small feast of shots for us to see. I hope you are well.

I love the beautiful soft focus on your grandson's face and the gorgeous monochromatic tones. This is a wonderful moment captured with a touch of poignancy in the expression but a most endearing look of innocence as well. I am pleased to see that you have provided a close up of the child only in another posting and I shall be taking a closer look at that in a moment. I see what Avi is saying but I am a believer in posting what YOU think is a good shot and one that is taken in the firm belief that you have done the best darn job you could do. I love this and I am so pleased to see you posting again as it was good to see something of Marnie a short while ago. Take care my dear friend and be well.......My very best wishes to you and to Marnie as well.........Ray

I considered that Avi...the burn gives an overall drab tone...and the crop threw off the balance. Sales first, atistic license 2nd. ;o)

If you ask me, here's what I would do: crop off the right part to a square format (that gets rid of one patch), then create layers and reduce the contrast AND burn the othre bright patch (behind the head). Then bring back the details on the child using a mask.

That is, if you aren't too averse to using PS for recovery, and don't mind the square format.

cheers !
Avi

Thanks Avi. Quite right. I can't imagine how to get his exposure in the deep shade without blowing out the bright light though. Thanks. Hey! Hope all is well with you too! )

Dear Doyle,

You caught the moment and the expression very well, but in my opinion the bright patches of light in the background are distracting the eyes of the viewer.

Hope everything is well !
Avi
