Sylvia, I see you live in Glamorgan. My parents came from Cardiff (we are one of the Welsh Williams families, although I've mixed in some Japanese blood now). You took exception to my comment about the dismal British weather, but really, we only had about ten days there, and of those we saw the sun on only two! The Saracen's Head is in the Midlands, at a place called Southwell, famous for the Minster that figures in two of my early uploads to Usefilm. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I do like this photo, which is why I chose to tuck my reply here... Maybe the saturation is a wee bit over the top? [g]

Congrats on Editor's choice for your 'Lakes District Picture'. Fortunately, I do agree with this photo editor most of the time. Rather than critique your pictures, what can I learn from you on one like this: Most of the ratings are 6's not 7's so perhaps there is room for improvement, but don't know what. I like following the green as it maps the movement of water over the land. Then there is universal attraction to moving water in streams. Also like the balance in the tree and the massive rock formation. This is a very attractive landscape to begin with. Improvements could come by photographing early in the morning with some mist in the air and the amber glow of morning light and long shadows. Yes, I'd like to take a shot at that!

Splendid image, Sylvia! Great capture on the colors. Love the texture of all that stone! I really like the tree right front. Great addition.

How desolate!!! I love this. It has the feel of a million years ago. I would like to see this without the contrast added.
