About Alcázar of Segovia. When I saw this structure for the first time, I thought of Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula" and what Van Helsing might have seen on first approaching the Count's lair.

Don't take it too seriously please :)

Ah yes Don - Disney obviously saw the Romantic feelings this castle evokes!

Thank you for your interesting and witty comments!

Thank you Stan, in fact, I used the Holga thingy from Silver Efex, but I didn't use the film grain option. I'll give it a go!

Anthony

Interesting moody image with the heavy grain and contrasting light and dark areas. The POV really gives a nice angle and prominence to the castle against the sky. Try Silver Efex to mimic film grain and film types. A great addition as a plug in.
be well, Stan

Agreed Tony. On the day we were there, the weather was pretty bad, but we did wander down to the river - and it was a lovely aspect. Of course, the Roman aqueduct was our purpose in visiting Segovia.

As Don says, the Disney thing is a fascinating comment regarding this fairytale castle.

Anthony

Agreed Gary. I've got some B&W emulsion plug-ins which I haven't really tried. I hesitate lest, in doing so, I provoke a firestorm of abuse and recrimination. However, as I understand it, those plug-ins have been designed around smart models of silver halide emulsions. In FACT, I'm going to try some right now. I do realise this is sacrilegious, and of course, I understand that.

Rush to my aid when the going gets rough haha!

My best,

Anthony

Love this castle, especially as seen from down below, next to the river. The vignette and grain add a lot of drama.
All the best, Tony

La atmósfera draculiana está espectacularmente lograda. Para película de terror.

Felicitaciones!

Love the Hammer House treatment to the castle. Gives it a lugubrious feeling which contrasts with the fairy-tale kitsch associated with it, after Disney used it as inspiration for his logo.
Another great photo!

Good treatment of the image to give a horror movie feel. This is an area where film still comes out better, I think. Digital noise doesn't quite cut it compared with film grain, IMO.

This really works in B&W and the grain really adds. Nice work (the count would be proud :-))

Awesome shot Anthony.. the grainy look matches excellently with the mood of the sky and the appearance of the castle from this particular POV. The line from the turret to turret divides the image diagonally.. enhancing a dramatic tension with the left upper corner of the sky..At the same moment a beautiful balance is maintained by keeping the upper and bottom portion of the frame comparatively darker ...
I do not know why .. but your shot makes me nostalgic ..

Thank you very much for sharing..

Stay well and take care..

Arup.

Sobresai o momento tenebroso e sombrio dos fins de tarde de inverno nos filmes de Drácula!
Bela imagem, boa composição!
