About Long exposure of rocks in the surf at the shoreline. I'm guessing less than two minutes long.
It was taken late in the day. I used two polarizing filters on the lens to reduce the light to make the long exposure possible using Kodachrome 64.
I used Neat to reduce noise, but not sure if that was necessary.
The photo is not heavily modified, but The doubled up polarizers caused the unusual color, but I reduced the saturation slightly.

I see opportunities for this type of image at your Cali Coast photo location if access is possible for a good shooting angle.
Thank you Gregory.

Like your lightning image Jeff. Take a lot of images and one will eventually work. Hard thing here is getting the wave action to not flow over the entire surface of the rocks. If it covers over the top of the rocks they can wash out and loses the contrast with the lowest rocks. This is one of those times where the tide height, the intensity of the wave action and time of day all need to come together. If the tide was 2 feet higher or lower, I'm not sure if the effect would have come out as well. These are always a "cross your fingers" and hope it works effort.
Thanks Jeff.

I don't believe that I have Jim.
I do like slow and time exposures as you can see here. I should have purchased some ND filters to make my aperture options much greater. I bet that if I had owned a couple of those filters, it would have encouraged me to try shots like this more often.
I recall that Singh Ray does not sell inexpensive filters. I have some Cokin filters, but was never impressed with plastic filters and never used them much.
Ya get what ya pay for.

Using two polarizers here gave me some unusual colors which I like. I did not expect these colors, so I can't take credit for this unintentional result..... it just happened.
The blue is very close to the original on the CD and the light areas were brightened slightly to make better contrast.

I once used the double filter effect to take a photo looking down from an overpass on interstate 5 in southern Oregon. It was a summer day and on a weekend taken at high noon........... and no cars were visible on the freeway. Hee hee......... I just love long exposures, even goofy ones like that.

Most of the images in my portfolio so far are old images just recently put onto a CD.
Thank you for your comments Jim.

Pretty impressive shot. At first I thought you had made it a negative. Thanks for telling us your technique. Have you seen the Singh-Ray variable ND filter?

Dreamy. Almost looks like a foggy mountain range from high above. Love it.
