Really ? I have had discussions on this at length with my wife (who is a Bilologist) and she also says she dreams in color. And I have always maintained that I do not.
Now I am really thinking is everything ok with me ???? :):):)

When we dream Avi, our brains use the same areas of visual cortex as when we are actually awake and seeing, so yes, we should all dream in colour. If you don't, perhaps I could use you as a case study!

Well, to answer your question, it's the brain rebooting itself after some deep-wave (restorative)sleep, which might of course lead to an image like this. I'd personally hate to see some of my dreams represented in jpeg!
