With or without that rock it is a more thancompetent photograph.
I do think it would make a good photograph without the rock but it also makes a good one with it.
You pays yer money and takes yer chance.

I’m not sure how many times this particular rock has been used as foreground interest but we seen lots of them that’s for sure.
Without anything in the foreground the image lacks depth and I always feel that in strong landscape composition you need that element there somewhere but would have been happy with a fence post, boat or anything else that would of helped.
Without anything there the image becomes flat.
But yes I know sometimes well photographed areas become repetitive in the composition so I take your point and thanks for commenting.

Beautiful scene and colours, the sky is especially perfect.I sometimes wonder if the obsession with having a strong foreground- usually in the form of a large rock-doesn't in fact diminish the impact of the scene...I mean there are so many landscape shots with exactly that same rock in the same position1Anyway, what do you think?Obviously a strong foreground is important for compositional reasons,,but not that rock again!!
Great photo anyway, perfect for a calender.Best regards, Tony
